Ryuugamine Mikado had always wanted to live the busy city life, and his dream becomes a reality when he moves to Ikebukuro, Tokyo to attend school with a childhood friend he had not seen in years, Kida Masaomi . Upon Mikado's arrival, Masaomi warns him about relevant people to never cross in the city, such as Heiwajima Shizuo , a violently short-tempered and ridiculously strong man in a bartender suit; Orihara Izaya , a dangerously well-informed information broker; and a mysterious gang known as the Dollars .
