One year after Goku 's battle with Beerus , remnants of Frieza 's army attempt to revive their long-dead master. After learning that Goku has far surpassed the power he showed in their battle on Namek, Frieza spends 4 months training. Goku & Vegeta are not on Earth and are training under Whis , so Bulma gathers the rest of the gang to fight against the revived Frieza and protect the universe that is once again under grave threat. Note: Pre-screened via lottery on March 30 in Japan and on April 11 in Los Angeles. Regular cinematic release in Japan on April 18.
