In 2054, mankind suddenly entered a war with a mysterious alien race which suddenly attacked Earth. The United Nations reorganized the army to oppose them and to defend the earth, and named it as "The first encounter action" . In 2059, the invasion was still going on. A special unit called Funeral was set up to actively combat these aliens. This anime centers around; Takuto Kaneshiro , a scientist who had his life ruined by one of the aliens, and Harriet Bartholomew , a innocent 13-year old girl with a strange link to a seemingly friendly Alien named EX-1 (aka Frank) . Note: There are 25 episodes of Argento Soma aired on television. Episode 24.5 (Phase EX: Solitary) was released as a single OVA (on March 2002)
